Norton Ghost 15.0.1.36526 How to delete backup

I don't think my initial backup with Norton Ghost went through exactly right, so I'd like to remove that backup and start from scratch.  How do I actually delete that backup?  I have not been able to do it through the Norton Ghost interface, and I read elsewhere that if I manually delete the current backup through Windows Explorer, I will permanently get error messages inside Norton Ghost.

My C drive with Windows 7, 64 bit OS is 1.36 TB is what I want to backup, and I want to do the backup on my Free Agent GoFlex Drive (I:) which is the same size.

I guess I could just delete manually anyway, and then uninstall and reinstall Norton Ghost,

Thanks for any help.

Re: Norton Ghost 15.0.1.36526 How to delete backup

Welcome,

If you use windows explorer to delete the backup file it will upset Ghost. When you get the message go in and delete the recovery points and that will cure the error message. You should then be able to start fresh. A new backup job will also insure that you do not run into any leftovers fro your test. Everything about the new job can be the same but the internal coding will change :smileywink:

That's terrible advice! That's a good way to make Ghost not allow incremental backups or create a new backup schedule. You are chancing messing up the history / schedules in Ghost going through Windows Explorer. Please use the Ghost GUI > Tasks > Manage Back Destination and delete from there!
