I just attached a 3 TB GoFlex external drive to a Windows 7 system.
I'd like to use this disk for some backups & archiving, but Ghost 15 doesn't seem
to recognize it. The Windows 7 system recognizes the new drive.
What can be done?
Thanks!

Welcome,
Ghost is just old enough that it doesn't know how to cope with more than about 2TB. If you partition the drive it should be able to read and write to it.
Stay well and surf safe

And be sure to use MBR partitions and not GPT partitions. Be sure to check to see if you can see/verify an image from the Recovery Disc too.

I did try MBR partitioning and sub - 2T partitions. No joy.

Does Windows see the drive and the partitions? How is it being reported? Have you rebooted? It may take a cold boot so that all of the settings are refreshed.

If the total size of the partitions is larger than 2.2TB, it's not a MBR drive.

Windows 7 has no problem seeing the partitions (whether it's one big GPT partition or a set of sub 2 T MBR
partitions, as separate drives). One can copy files to/from the drive, at least on a small scale.
I don't think any backup program will work with it, however.
I'm currently trying Windows 7's own backup (something I don't usually use, so I 'm not very familiar with it).
It seems to be very slow & may be stuck at about 43% complete - I'll just let it run overnite & see it
if gets any further.

One more question - USB 2.x or 3.x?

Host is an hp 490t. The device manager says "NEC Electronics USB 3.0 Host Controller" & Root Hub
but this is probably the first USB 3 device I've plugged into it. (That I know of.)

That would be our next problem. Ghost is just old enough that it doesn't support USB 3.x
If you can back the connection down to USB 2.x then you may have a working solution.
