I realise this is an issue that has been visited many time. However, none of the proposed solutions I can find seem to resolve the issue.
AA) I have just finished a fresh installation of my systems on a new PC and there is no backup I can go back to. ( Windows 7)
BB) On completion of the installation, Ghost 15 would not run and kept reporting no recovery point and therefore would not backup. A variety of alternative settings did not resolve the issue.
C) Regrettably, I decided to uninstall and reinstall Ghost. The Uninstallation would not complete
DD) As the uninstallation will not work I only get options to repair or modify the installation. I have tried both without effect.
EE) For uninstall I get "C:\Program Files (x86)\Norton Ghost\Agent\SpnRegister.dll can not be found followed by "ERROR: Failed to have success running Uninstaller Driver function in MSIUninstaller Driver Function.
FF) When I try to reinstall I get options to fix or modify. The error message when I attempt either is "Error 1720: There is a problem with the windows installer package etc
GG) I have tried running the Norton Removal Tool several times to no effect.
I am anything but a super user of the PC and would appreciate any help you may be able to give.
Cheers,
Garry

More info.
After running for about an hour the Norton Removal Tool worked. Guess I was too impatient.
The tool worked and Norton Ghost 15 reinstalled ok.
On trying to run the first backup to an external USB drive, the backup failed with the message "Unable to write to file". Again,
Any assistance apprecaited.
Cheers,
Garry

Garry,
Quick question - USB which flavor? Ghost has a problem with USB 3.x. Also, how big is the drive? Again a problem with those over 2TB.
