I experimented running Norton Ghost at different times during the night and finally found a time slot that produced no errors. So, it looks like another program was interfering with it.

Hi itguyla,
Thanks for the update, that is good news. Does this consistently work at that time? My first suspect would be AV scans. What AV software do you have? You should be able to look into your AV logs and find out what time the scans are performed and try and match that up to the time when Ghost has a problem completing a backup.
One could also manually invoke an AV scan and then manually start a Ghost backup to see if any issues arise.
Thanks
Allen

Hi dmaisel,
Thanks for the update. I'm not sure if the first event is relevant to the core issue but we should look into a bit more. Is your computer on a domain or part of a workgroup? Further, you mention McAfee Enterprise version of AV. This is usually associated with a business type network.
I only find error code EC8F042E mentioned once anywhere on the forums here. Can you go into Control Panel > Add/Remove Programs and let me know what versions of .NET framework you have installed?
Thanks much
Allen

Hi dmaisel,
Thanks for the update. Did you confirm this through Add/Remove programs? The latest patch do .NET framework should be 3.5. If 3.0 is the only one showing up in Add/Remove programs, please check for Windows updates and see if it recommends an update to this.
Also, please see http://support.microsoft.com/kb/959209
Thanks
Allen

I spoke too soon. Still having problems.
The errors have returned.
Error EC8F17B7: Cannot create recovery points for job: Drive Backup of (C:\). Error E7D1001E: Unable to read from file. Error EBAB03F1: Insufficient system resources exist to complete the requested service.
Details: 0xE7D1001E
Source: Norton Ghost
Windows XP Pro w/SP3 computer.
500GB hard drive with over 300GB of free space
500GB external drive USB (NTFS) with over 400GB of free space
Ran chkdsk on both drives...no errors
Both the computer and the external are practically brand new
The first couple of weeks, Norton Ghost 14 ran without errors. Now, no matter what time I schedule the backup, it comes back with this error and does not complete the backup.
Help!
