Re: Norton Ghost15: What is SRP?

Hello Deric, I was just working on my own PC. I followed the manual of ECS-A780VM-M2 motherboard. Cleared CMOS jumper, waited a few minutes then put the jumper back to normal position. Changed date and time. Loaded default settings. Save and exit. After reboot, I still see the BIOS screen. Also tried booting with only a video card and a stick of RAM. Still see BIOS screen after reboot. All the fans in the power supply, CPU and video card are working. I am at a loss as to what's happening. Any other suggestions?

Can you boot the Ghost SRD or Windows disc?

Re: Norton Ghost15: What is SRP?

@redk9258, I changed BIOS set up to boot from the CD/DVD drive first. The PC does not boot from Knoppix 6.3 Live CD, but instead show the BIOS Setup Screen again. I am sure it won't boot into Ghost CD or Windows CD. When I turn on the machine or after each reboot, I do not hear any beep code at all. The very first screen says RAM is OK and recognizes various hard disks. The second screen is BIOS setup. No matter what I try I now always get this second screen. The motherboard uses American Megatrend Inc. BIOS. I suspect the motherboard is fried.

Can you boot from a CD if you unplug the IDE cable from both HDs?

Re: Norton Ghost15: What is SRP?

hi Brian,

I have been talking about my own PC since message #41.  I only have SATA drives.  No, the CD tray ejected KNOPPIX Live CD after I disconnected the SATA drives and rebooted.  Still see BIOS Setup Window.  Changing CMOS battery did not result in a successful boot.  I did not hear any beep code at all.

Hello, I just loaded win 7 dvd and rebooted. Win 7 didn't load and I only saw a blue American Megatrend Inc. BIOS Setup Screen. Sigh!

If you don't hear a beep then the Video card is shot, try onboard graphics or a different graphics card.

He can see the BIOS screen so the graphics card must be good, right?

Yes you are right Red, if he takes out the graphics card then he should her a series of rapid beeps, if he dosn't then it could be the board. Has he tried another HDD?

Re: Norton Ghost15: What is SRP?

Hello Deric and Red, I took out the video card Geforce6600, then the screen says "Cable disconnected". Put it back on, rebooted, then the first thing shown on the screen is the video card type, driver version and memory, so I don't think video card is the problem. Tried another card which is a bit newer, GEforce 7300 Gt. Same BIOS screen as with the current card Geforce 6600. I have not been able to locate on BIOS menu the place to disable onboard video. I don't know what else to try. Any suggestions?
