Norton Power Eraser doesn't complete; I get "Norton Power Eraser successfully restored the internet connection host file & NPE proxy settings may have been modified. Then it gives me two options: exit or continue; so I click continue and it reruns the scan; I never get a message telling me that my system is clean; keep getting this loop that reruns the scan until I get the error code 0x80045008; it tells me something about an unstable internet connection. I ran NPE in safe mode and it found several bad files; I clicked on fix to take care of the bad files, but when I try to run it in regular mode, I get this loop; I used to get the message that my system was clean; I never got that internet connection message before. I have windows vista home edition, 64 bit; I use firefox as my browser. I ran a complete scan with Norton 360 and everything was clean; but NPE won't complete.

This still is an issue; what is wrong with my internet connections? My internet seems to work fine.

hi all,
Lets try this,
Run NPE scan and in parallel open a command prompt and ping google.com continuously . Example :ping google.com -t
if you see "Request timed out" in the command prompt ,Then it could be the intermittent n/w issue, else kindly attach the logs generated under the location
For win 7/vista c:\Users\"username"\Appdata\Local\NPE\NPETraceSess
For Xp: C:Documents nad settings\"Username"\Local Settings\Application Data\NPE\NPETraceSession.etl
thanks,
suren.

I'm having the same issue here. I have attempted to attach the file you requested converted to a txt file
I ran two times the original etl file is the -0001 file and the second time i ran it with out the rootkit check labeled -0002 and pinging google.com no lost packets on the ping an avg of 27 ms I have also included screen shots from NPE all are contained in the attached zip as I kept getting an error that the files are too large. Still getting message that files are too large please send me a private email so I can reply to and send you the requested logs.

It's working random... I think it is a problem of Norton servers.
