Norton Utilities 2011 v.15

Is Norton Utilities 15 already released? It's already on Symantec's website but I'm unable to download the trialware from http://us.norton.com/downloads/trialsoftware/. I'm redirected to Symantec Store when I enter my e-mail adress and click the download button.

Hi Vejdin

When you enter email address and location ensure that your location is selected as "United States" and then it should download Release Candidate 3.

Thanks! I guess that there is an updated version of the program as the file name starts with "15.0.0.122RC5".

I just want to say that the new version is great! Great job Symantec!

Yes, we did release a new version of Norton Utilities (version 15) recently.  It's currently available in English to a limited set of countries via the Symantec Online Store and will be more widely available via our retail partners across the globe throughout the month of January.  Check it out!  I am really diggin' this version.  It's already gotten my schizo laptop back to fighting shape!

I think it is worth to upgrade. The new version is really good - includes NEW versions of SpeedDisk (now with real time defragmentation), WipeInfo, UnErase wizard - can even restore permenantly deleted files (files removed with Shift+delete key combination), and a new DiskDoctor - to prevent and fix potential disk problems.

Re: Norton Utilities 2011 v.15

I loaded the trial on my test system today and my first impression is that it is much better than the last version and has a lot more usefull tools.

What I was most impressed with was that it doesn't automatically start with windows, it has a couple of minimal services running but the program doesn't start until you need it.  Refreshing to see a program that doesn't start automatically unless you want it too, I wish Ghost could be set that way.

The new Norton "UnErase" is a real data recovery tool that scans the drive for deleted files, it doesn't use a protected recycle bin or intercept deleted files.  It actually scans the hard drive for deleted files and works very well and quicker then most programs I have used.

SpeedDisk is back and improved. It works very nice.  The way it places infreqently used files at the end of the partition might not be my first choice in file placement but the alignment does give faster access time to all the other files and it also has a way to defrag the boot files for faster startup times.  I used to love speedisk and really missed it when it was removed.

DiskDoctor is back but I didn't have any disk problems to try it on LOL

There were a couple other tools I think are new, I wasn't able to spend too much time today but I really likes what I saw so far.

I cleaned and defraged the registry and have not had a single problem with any of the tools.
