About every 3rd time I run a scan, or update definitions, instead of doing that, I get the screen saying that Norton is activating, you see the little symbol saying it's working, then it says Norton is now protecting your blah blah blah.

Does this mean that Norton IS NOT already running? I've run scans, everying says it's fine. I've also used various online scanners and they also detect nothing.

What does this mean, and how can I fix it?

A bit more information will prove useful, such as which Norton Product and version is this happening on?

Which OS are you using (with the SP#)?

I have the same problem. It's really bothersome because every time it "activates" it wants me to download a large amount of liveupdates.  I use Norton Security Suite and have Windows 7.
