Re: Advanced Firewall on NIS 2008

When you click on the Norton Internet Security tab, what do you see?  Does the Help and Support window open for no apparent reason at all? What version Windows are you using?  Did you have a previous version of Norton Internet Security?  Is Norton Internet Security the only security program that you have installed?  Could you provide a screenshot of the error you see?

Re: Advanced Firewall on NIS 2008

hi graffi - can you confirm that only the firewall is disabled. it sounds like you may be seeing more than one item disabled, which is probably a licensing problem. if you find that your subscription is reported as expired, check this link

Re: Advanced Firewall on NIS 2008

hi, everything is ok ,it is only the advance firewall that is showing at risk.

i purchased it on line from the nortons on line store it has a full year minus 5 days on the lisence

Re: Advanced Firewall on NIS 2008

hi graffi - okay, so just the advanced firewall is displayed as at risk. when you click FIX NOW, does anything happen? error messages or perhaps one click support opens?

also, any entries in your error log? here's how you can find what's there:

"click on the Norton Internet Security tab and open the Reports and Statistics section and click "View Activity Log". At the bottom will be an Error Messages section. If you can relay to us what you see there I think it will help us figure out what's happening"

Re: Advanced Firewall on NIS 2008

hi graffi - i apologize for being increduluous, but i don't understand how the the advanced firewall could be displayed as off and the program itself not reporting that condiftion as a problem.  i think we must have missed something.- here's where i get confused:

"there is a big red cross on nortons sign, also it says at risk under it, it also says at risk next to advance fire wall, when you put curser over advance firewall it says it is turned off but you cant get into the firewall setttings to turn it on"

then later,

"i can tell you there is no fix now option"

these two observations do not seem possible. if you could post a screen shot of the program, as Erik requested, it would help resolve the mystery.
