Sometimes yes and sometimes not.
I've tried it many times.
For example first I cleaned up the registry and the I tried to defragment or I just tried to defragment without doing anything before.
I tried everything possible... it still doesn't work.

I have unistalled Norton Utilities and made a clean install, I turned off Vista's UAC and and and and....
I've checked everything. Vista updates, Norton Utilities Updates...
Absolutely nothing.

Hello NTG,

Can you please do the following before running the Registry defragmenter in the given order:

1. Perform a "Clean your Registry" Scan

2. Perform a "Surface Scan". To do this follow instructions below

•  In the main Dashboard > Select Maintain > Repair your disks
•  In Disk Doctor select the Volume that you cannot run the Registry Defragmenter
•  Select Sulrface Scan then click 'Start'
•  It should then say that it "cannot perform as the volume is currently in use. Do you wish to reschedule on restart" select yes
• Reboot your system and let NU complete the 'Surface Scan'

3. Once your computer has booted back up perform a Deep Disk Defragment using Speed Disk.

• Open Defragment Disks from the dashboard
• Select the "Optimize your disks" feature
• Select the Volume that you cannot run the Registry Defragmenter
• Under 'Select an action' ensure that 'Optimize disks' is selected
• Select Start

4. Reboot your computer then try to run 'Registry defragmenter'.

I made everything step by step exactly as you've told me.
Everything works absolutely perfect... the registry defragmentation still doesn't work!

Apologies for the late reply. Just want to clarify if it istill freezing at 30%. Could you please send me a screen shot of where it is freezing?

Additionally could you please send me a copy of  the files

C:\Program Files\Norton Utilities 15\
