Hi there
Firstly i must say that i am not a technical person but will try my best to explain what i want. Each day i back up My Computer onto an external hard drive via Norton Ghost. Today i destroyed my hard drive by accident and now need to get some folders that i have saved back onto my laptop (i have a new hard drive installed).
I don't want ALL that is saved as some of it will include my Outlook email tree but the last recovery point was 5 days ago, so if i can help it I'd rather not have that (I have web mail which is fully up to date and i average around 50 emails a day with my business).
How can i restore only certain folders as i think everything is saved each day onto the external drive as one "mass"?
Also, when the guy who installed the new hard drive installed Windows, he asked me which version i had previously. I know it was Windows 7 but don't know if it was Basic, Home Premium, etc....he installed Home Premium for me.....will it matter if he has installed a different version of Windows 7 for me to restore my folders?
If you can get back to me quickly it would be greatly appreciated as my whole business is on hold until i can sort this out.
Many thanks
Pamela

Welcome Pamela,
The flavor of Windows 7 that is installed should not make enough difference for you to notice in the recovery process. The x32 or x64 flavor could cause some concern. Only time will tell.
I will assume that Ghost has been reinstalled and updated via live update. What type of backup were you doing? Was it files and folders or a complete drive/partition? I hope that your Norton security product has also been reinstalled and updated. Be sure to run scans regularly.
Looking forward to your responses
PS: Consider using an email client after this situation is resolved. That will keep your addressbook behind your Norton firewall and make it harder for the 'bad guys' to compromise it. Combined with your mail service filters you should be able to eliminate most of the spam and other trash that tends to pile up in email.
Stay well and surf safe
