Hi everyone-
A while back, I had my Acer laptop's hard drive replaced. I took it to a small compuer repair shop, who installed a new version of Windows XP on the new hard drive using my serial no.
They installed an image.GHO file on my hard drive so I could revert to it whenever I need to reformat.
My problem: I can't open up the .GHO file. I've used numerous version of Norton Ghost (12, 2003),Ghost Explorer, as well as Ghost Solution. Nothing seems to be working, and I keep getting the same error message: "Not a Gost image file".

How do I open this .GHO file so I can "rewind" back to the old state? I asked the computer shop how to open up the file, but they won't tell me. They keep insisting that I go over there so they can charge me $50 to have it reformatted.
Please help me out!

Thermostat,
It was created by one of the DOS Ghosts. It will restore from Ghost 2003, Ghost 8 and Ghost 11. Ghosts 9 and 10 have a restore app (Legacy images) built in and will restore that file.

I just tried to recover using Norton Ghost 2003's Restore Utility. I got this error message:"This is an invalid image. Choose a valid image."
Still no luck. Am I doing something wrong?

Thanks. I'll give that a go.
Also, as a small update I tried to run Ghost 2003's DOS recovery. I got an error message that said:
--------------------------------
Image File Selection Error
D:\IMAGE.GHO is not a Norton Ghost File. Or is not the correct span segment. Task cannot be completed.
--------------------------------
I'll see if I can get my hands on those older versions. I'll update once I get it going.
