Symantec says everyone should STOP using PCAnywhere!! - when will *CRITICAL* patch be released?

Now that Symantec has asked ALL it's PcAnywhere customers to STOP using pcanywhere due to a security breach from 2006 (see below article), when will a patch be released to address this security risk?

Suggestion: Maybe Symantec should give ALL existing customers (regardless of their version) a free upgrade to PCA 12.5 which appears to have the security hole fixed.

Re: Symantec says everyone should STOP using PCAnywhere!! - when will *CRITICAL* patch be released?

Thanks for that additional info...

But I am dissapointed in the fact that it doesn't look like Symantec will issue patches for versions of PCA prior to 12, which I have quite a few clients using 10.5 and 11.

And to be forced to pay $200 per 1-user copy of version 12.5 is a bit steep for a security breach that was known about 6 years ago doesn't seem very fair to me.

I don't even see a discounted "upgrade" price anywhere :(

John,

Have you tried to update/upgrade your copy of PCA?

You might also talk with customer support at:  http://www.norton.com/chat and see if they can assist.
