Tried everything and I just can't get Norton Ghose to install?

I've read through the forums to see if anyone else was having issues but couldn't find a suittable solution?  I'm not sure if this is part of my issue as I also use Norton 360 and when I click on the support tab Norton 360 checks my internet connectivity, my system and my updates but just kind of sits there when it's checking installation.  So, here I am asking the experts their thoughts?

I first ran the driver detector and it discovered a problem with my Realtek RTL 8187 wireless network adaptor.  I guess I could try to uninstall/reinstall it or try to update the driver which didn't seem to work but I have no reason to fool with this as I have a wired connection and have never had problems with anything.

It looks as though the installation is nearly complete but then a DOS window pops up that shows C:\Windows\System32\cmd.exe.  This eventually goes away and then I get Error: Failed Installdriver MSIInstallerdriver function.  I've watched it kind of uninstall itself after the error and try to reinstall with no luck.  I've also gone into add/remove programs and saw that Norton Ghost was still there so I uninstalled it through the windows uninstall feature and still can't get this stupid thing to install.  Is there a conflict as I'm running Norton 360?  I also did a google search and found mention of a hidden file called NGhostinstall which I can't even find on my system.  If you guys have any suggestions it would be greatly appreciated and thanks in advance for all of your help!

Hi,

Sorry you are having a problem. I don't think that your Norton products are the problem. What scans have you run and how long has this been happening? From what you are saying I'm going to recommend that you wait for Quads to check in. He's our resident expert. He's also a volunteer so it may be a while before he sees our messages. If he doesn't see a need for his expertise then we can drop back to my simple solutions. Just don't do anything until he says one way or the other. Some scans and other tools can make the problem worse or next to impossible to correct. Should that happen the only solution is to flush the drive and start over.

Hang in and hang on help is coming

Based on the date of this discussion, I guess I'm not alone in getting Ghost 15 to install.

I just built a new computer and thus far, have only updated drivers and brought Win 7 Pro 64-bit up to date with all patches.  I haven't even installed anti-virus software yet.  It's about as virgin as virgin can be.

I want to clone the near empty SSD to another SSD in case something goes wrong sooner rather than later.  So, it's time to install my full-retail version of Ghost 15.

I click on autorun, then "install".  Up comes the Windows installer package message and a second or two later, the full listing of the command line and all possible variations of it.  I click OK, and that's all that happens.  Nothing gets installed.  The CD does not resume spinning, there's no installation dialog of any kind, etc.

So, I tried browse the CD and clicked setup.exe.  Same results.

So now what?...trash can is being strongly considered.

By the way, did I mention I'm a computer geek that goes back to early mainframe days and DOS 1.0 with Norton Utilities shortly thereafter?

Try this setup, after you download it right click and select "run as administrator".
