My comcast Norton Security Suite finds that the intrusion software is not functioning and when I use the "fix it" command, it is unsuccessful. Initially it shows fixed but immediately shows up as not enabled and it needs to be fixed. I've run live updates. Until I hear back, I will do a scan and restart. Please help.

First ensure Intrusion Prevention is turned on. Settings > Firewall > Intrusion and Browser Prevention Tab > Intrusion Prevention.
Using "Fix it", does it take you thru the One Click Support function or not? If not, On the main page click on Support and select Get Support from the drop down menu, and then Begin Support Session. Let it scan and see if it finds anything, recommends any corrective action, etc. Continue thru the Support steps. If it finds nothing I would suggest a removal, running of the Norton Removal Tool and a reinstall following the instructions here: http://forums.comcast.com/t5/Security-and-Anti-Vir
Once you get to the download of Norton Security Suite link on the above link, be sure to click on the NO THANKS button for installing Constant Guard. There has been many problems with Constant Guard Protective Suite and the experts no longer recommend it.
Please post back with any results you have and also any questions.
