I installed norton on my computer this weekend and now I am unable to get into my college website. Obviously I can't live with this, My laptop was having issues, so I downloaded the norton that comes free to comcast subscribers. I am not very computer savy, is there an easy fix? I tried turning off the firewall - but it didn't help. Any ideas?????

Hi
What's happening when you go to the website? (error messages, blocked messages, etc)
What browser are you using?
Did you tried with other browsers?

Hi allred3747,
Do you by chance have any Constant Guard branded programs installed (Other than Norton Security Suite)?
Did you or do you still have any other security/AV program installed on your system?
If you feel your "laptop problesm" with malware, then the answer was not installing Norton. I owuld suggest if this is the case to try to download and run the free version of MalwareBytesAntiMalware. Be sure to update it prior to running.
Please post back with results.

Yank,
Peanut gallery here:
One other note. Most institutions have some sort of security protocol. Does his institution require a specific security program in order to be able to access their servers? Wouldn't be the first time
Most just require that you be protected and their server recognizes most of the 'real' security programs.

I am using internet explorer.. When I type in the web address it quickly comes back and says unable to connect - check your internet service. But I am able to connect other sites

My laptop when on the internet would keep getting the message, from security suite saying I was infected with a virus and then send me to their website to buy their product. I researched on the internet and found a solution that cleared that up. I had let my Norton subscription lapse and so I uninstalled my old Norton (I had paid for and downloaded 15 months ago). Then my MOM told me I could get it from her Comcast - Xfinity sevice for free. We installed that and things were looking really good. No error messages. Every other website I tried opened and then I went to pay my tuition and can't get into my college website. I am able to get into it from a home computer, but it is provided by her work and doesn't have Norton or the Guard software.
Thanks for the interest. I will try anything. I just don't have the money to pay someone to fix it.

Glad to hear that it's working. Did you by any chance reboot anywhere along the line? ![]()
