Sorry about the delay with getting back to you.
I've done the thing you said about going into safe mode and running norton virus and i've found the 3 trojan horses that i have on here. i know 3!!! Norton wont let me quarantine any of them, so i'm running outta ideas. The only other one i can think of is a system restore, but that will get rid of everything that is on here right? so i'm currently in the process of finding every little bit of back up thing i can find, i.e memory sticks and cd-rw's. thanks for all your help still, muchly appreciated

Opps! Chlo_Avril, I forgot!
It is a good thing that you are not running Vista!
DEATH TO VISTA!!!
You will be 231% happier running XP than your friends are running Vista.
Ha ha ha ha!
(My apologies, but I hate Vista SO much that I had to respond to your reference of this cursed program.)

(My apologies for posting a third time so soon, but I just saw Chlo_Avril's latest post.)
Chlo_Avril! Please, please PLEASE D/L and run SpyBot and AdAware mentioned a couple of posts before! You will discover that while Norton can find many things (including your Trojans) sometimes it won't kill them.
Spybot and AdAware WILL!! Before you toss the drive into the fire (so to speak), run (updated) SpyBot and AdAware!!! You will find them fixing things Norton cannot!
Seriously here. They are very good programs!
P.S. Run full scans with updated virus lists. And give them about an hour to run. And don't forget to run them a second time after you clean them the first time. If you have serious problems, both programs will tell you they need to reboot to finish cleaning your PC. (This is a good thing!)
Good luck! ~~ Vince

thanks for that, slightly cheered me up considering the wretched things on my laptop. GUHHH!
thanks for you advice on those ad-programmes. i always find when getting stuff like that off the t'internet that they'll just wreck my system even more, 'cause you dont know whats on it etc etc. but i'll keep it in mind, deffffoo!
the safe mode did help, it showed me the malware things, but they still arent removed.

(Okay, last post, I promise 'cause this ain't an IM event, but Chlo keeps posting right after I do.)
Yes, you are right, Many internet things are "bad things", but AdAware and SpyBot are two of the MOST TRUSTED malware programs out there. D/L them from their source sites (if you can). You will NOT be disappointed. I use both programs and about once a week on my internet exploring machine and at least once a month on my production machine. I update both programs and then run them one at a time. It keeps me clean like you won't believe. Friends, family and even enemies get copies of these programs from me. (What can I say? I hate seeing even my enemies getting hurt by Malware.) Both are easy to D/L, generally easy to install and in a couple of hours (or so) you'll discover all the Trojans, Ads and Spybots have been removed and not even Norton will find anything again.
As I mentioned, these two programs keep 99.99% of the bad things from screwing up my computer.
And, as mentioned, although you've just replied to one of my recent posts, I will NOT be responding. This is turning into an IM session and I know no one wants that. (Ha ha ha!) :-)
So please consider getting and running the programs and when you (like everyone else I know) send me great big thanks for introducing you to these programs, I'll know another newbie has benefited from my knowledge base.
Over and out. ~~ Vince

(Yes, I know I'm breaking my word, but Chlo asked a direct question.)
Chlo, here are the websites for both of the programs you should be getting:
AdAware is found at:
Download the free version of the program. It installs pretty will, but can take some time. Just let it cook until it says it's done. As soon as it is finished downloading, update the program with current scan lists.
I think this is the source for Spybot:
Again, download the free (English) version. Do not install TeaTimer (nice tool but bothersome). Install it, allow it to backup your registry and allow it to update it's virus lists and then ...
and then ...
and then ...
Close all open programs and run these programs.
I usually AdAware first because it runs for an unknown time (and usually takes longer). For most of the first times I've seen it run it tells me it need to reboot to finish the cleaning.
One more thing about AdAware: Once it's done running you'll see a screen with three tabs. It's an unfriendly interface but you actually need to click on the tab and tell it you want it to remove the items it found.
Next run SpyBot. When it finishes it will show you everything it found and, sometimes, will tell you it needs to reboot and run immediately just like AdAware will. Go ahead and do so.
Spybot has a pretty nice user interface. It's very friendly.
Now, since you had Trojans, feel free to run them a second time and, then even run NAV. There is a 0.01% chance something will still be detected, but I'm willing to guess all your problems will be gone.
Once they are gone, run these at least once a month (once a week with heavy internet access) and you'll find your machine running smooth and the attacks not seeming to appear as much.
Good luck, but I really need to go. It's post 6:00p here and I want to hit the gym before I go home tonight. :-) So I really must go. If you need any further info I'll be glad to reply but it will (probably) be tomorrow before I see it.
But you will thank me greatly after D/L'ing and running SpyBot and AdAware.
~~ Vince, Out (Yeah, yeah, I know I said that before, but they are starting to sweep the offices and I need to escape while I can! Ha ha ha!)

Ok, thank you so much.
Yeah i think i shall have to try it tomorrow, as its getting rather late where I am, also.
But thank you for all your help. Never had this sorta thing before, well its not been this bad.
Backed up all useful files which i may need, just incaseee!
Once again, thank you for your help. I'll deffo run the two websites tomorrow and see what happens.

Well? Don't leave us hanging! :-) Were you able to D/L AA and SB? Did they work as stated? Are you still infected?
Gad! This is almost as bad as the ending to Sopranos! (Ha ha!)
So what happened? What did you wind up doing? The viewing audience needs to know!

Just a few tips to make your system Secure all the time:
- Run LiveUpdate every-few-hours; if Automartic LiveUpdate is On, set to to Express Mode (Start > Control Panel > Symantec LiveUpdate > General tab (I think) and then Automatic LiveUpdate.
- Do a Full System Scan at least twice-a-week.
- To give your computer a third-layer of Protection, I would suggest buying Norton AntiBot from the symantec Online Store.
