The Comcast provide Norton Security Suite is customized for Comcast for its customers. It is not a retail Norton product and can not be updated through the Norton Update Center which only handles retail products. Updates for this Suite will be handled differently.

If I may add a bit more.
Not only is the COMCAST version modified for COMCAST users, but is also on a different schedule for upgrades. I'm talking about going from Version 3 (which COMCAST users presently have) to Version 4 (which paid subscribers to Norton already have available to them). COMCAST users will be updated to Version 4 at a future date that has not been determined yet.
Just in case you are wondering, all the updates as far virus definitions, firewall rules, etc are the same for COMCAST users as for those with paid subscriptions.

Hello yank
Has your Comcast Norton Security Suite now been upgraded to version 4? By that I mean is there a version 4 now for Comcast users available to them? I'm asking because of this thread which I just saw posted in this Forum.
Success always occurs in private and failure in full view.

Thats a definite maybe at this point in time. I am awaiting official word from COMCAST George (our admin). From the download instructions corgi11 referenced, the Download Manager screenshot is labeled Version 4 and the screenshots of the installed CNSS is in fact the updated Version 4 look.
This is in the instructions for the initial install ( ie switch over from McAfee - or whoever). I do not know what will happen if you download this with V 3 already installed. I was under the impression that V3 had to be totally (including NRT) removed prior to install of V 4. There is no mention of that on the COMCAST website that I have found.

Good morning!
Yes, v4 is available for Comcast Norton Security Suite. Install method and instructions are the same as with the previous Comcast Norton Security Suite v3 release.
No, it is not required to run the NRT first.
If you are running NSSv3 and download/install NSSv4 from comcast, it will uninstall NSSv3, reboot, and install v4. There is no need to upgrade to NSSv4 if you are already running NSSv3 as your subscription will work just fine.

I decided to upgrade to v.4
After downloading the Norton Download Manager, I opened it and let it do its thing.
V3 was removed, I rebooted.
After rebooting and getting to my desktop, nothing happened. I know the download manager should have opened up automatically for the install to continue.
It didn't.
I opened up the Download Manager, and was greeted with this:
An expired Norton product has been detected and is
being removed now.
Please wait.
Not what I expected to see, especially since the previous version was supposed to have been removed the first time.
I'm mentioning this so others will be prepared to POSSIBLY experience the double uninstall.
Another reboot, Download Manager did auto open, install completed with no problems.

You can install it as you would install it as if it was not on your pc. The upgrade install program will remove the previous version.

A couple of questions. Did you have McAfee installed prior to attempting to install CNSS? If so did you use the McAfee Removal Tool?
You may need to register on the Comcast Forums in order to get to the instructions for the recommended procedure of "Uninstall McAfee Install Norton".
