pagefile and norton utilities

I just noticed after I ran Norton utilities 15 that my pagefile is no longer a contiguous area. It is separated by a system file area and MFT and MFT reserved. I have not noticed this affecting operations, but why did this happen? I have never used the option to place the pagefile first (or last) in all the years I've been using Norton Utilities.

When you say "ran Norton Utilities" could you be more specific as to what tasks you performed?  What version of Windows do you have?  Etc?

I ran speedisk. I use windows xp SP3. Pagefile is no longer contiguous. It has some system files andMFT and MFT reserved file separating the pagefile area.

Did you pick boot optimization as well?  I believe you're seeing something that's by design.  The intent is to optimize paging a further step to speed up the boot process as well as speed up paging.

Re: pagefile and norton utilities

Now that you mention it, I did do a boot optimization the last time.
