Offline help manger

Request ability to look at help content offline using a dual offline/online system like Microsoft did.

Hi DarkSta:

Kudos for posting this suggestion.  One of the reasons I'm hesitating to upgrade to NIS 2012 is the lack of offline help.  I have a slow metered Internet connection and don't want to be connecting to the web every time I need to read a help file.

I suspect part of the reason that there's so much confusion about some of the new features in NIS 2012 in the forum is that people no longer have access to offline help.

-----------

Windows Vista Home Premium 32-bit SP2 * NIS 2011 v. 18.6.0.29 * IE 9.0 * Firefox 6.0.0
HP Pavilion dv6835ca, Intel Core2Duo CPU T5550 @ 1.83 GHz, 3.0 GB RAM, NVIDIA GeForce 8400 GS

Re: Offline help manger

It doesn't bother me but I do think it would be useful for a lot of users.

Re: Offline help manger

I think this is an excellent suggestion, and I too would like to see this added.

Re: Offline help

The new online help system is far to slow. Simply return to the 2011 offline help system is all that is required. That worked really well so why change it.

AMD Athlon XP processor • 2gb ram • Windows 7 Home x32 • Norton Internet Security 2012 • Firefox 8.0.1 • NoScript • Opera 11 • TrafficLight • Site Advisor • Minimem • Sandboxie • Malwarebytes Free • SuperAntispyware Free • CCleaner • WinPatrol, Cobian 10 Backup • TuneUp Utilities 2012 • UltraFileSearch.

Re: Offline help

The 'new' in-program help (Support > Help) is nothing more than a link to the online bot ("Nathan"). Users deserve real in-program help, as in v2011, v2010....v19xx...

The in-program help file in NIS and NAV 2011 was informative and helpful. Please bring it back in 2012.

Re: Offline help

Yes. I agree. The help should be offline file(s).

Re: Offline help

- Online help won't work if one is knocked offline and trying to figure out why/cleanup

- Online help requires a browser, which may also not be working properly during a crisis

- Online help is slow

- Online help has no index/contents to navigate

- Online help has "Search Support" rather than just searching help

An abbreviated tooltip when hovering over the square "?" would be nice but needs a "Click the {? icon} for more information..." included, lest anyone think the tooltip was the only help available.
