Re: what would you like too see in norton 2013???

As other users have mentioned about 64-bit.  I would like to thank you for the great work you have done regarding performance and memory footprint, but I think in general this should be revisited.  With the computer hardware that is available with newer machines, ie: greater than 4 GB of memory, 7200/10000/SSD hard drives, multi-core processors.   Especially with the features that allow for "auto" silent mode such as AOE Online, etc, you should be more aggressive with the Live Updates and scanning considering available resources of these machines.

When present a message about an application using too many resources, you should provide an option to ignore that message in the future for that application.

Lastly, another user mentioned HTTP scanning, I use a product called AdMuncher, which works under Firefox, Chrome, IE, Opera, Yahoo Messenger, etc. via the HTTP protocol and strips ads and other junk from reaching the computer.  They are  working on HTTPS scanning as well.  **** I think you should buy them *** and imbed their functional into NIS.

Re: what would you like too see in norton 2013???

More free ideas? norton must be laughing at mugs like me...?

How about something to stop pretty new computers from freezing up every few minutes?

Over a hundred times I have had to pull the plug and battery on my new 3D i7 NVidia Laptop running nuthin but MS Office, Chrome and Norton in Win 7 x64-bit Ultimate..

Its a real teaser when even Ctrl, Alt, Del doesnt even function.

Tosh even replaced my hard drive which fixed nothing.

I spent 200 hours of my time trying to source solutions online. Seems many thousands of newish computers are freezing up.

What can Norton do? Even if it is a Chrome conflict with 64-bit Windows?

Close programs what freeze a computer? Forcing updates from manufacturers?

I dont mind not using or finding an alternative to a freezer program.

Also;

AllowToCreate memory limits for any one program to use? So no warnings about them using too many resources? etc

Re: what would you like too see in norton 2013???

I have Windows 7 64-bit Ultimate and run Chrome Dev and Chrome Canary daily..  However I am on a HP 180T Desktop.   My video card is ATI

Norton can't stop the freezes if they aren't the one causing it.  Not can any program block freezes if it is hardware related.

What about the Event Log?  Bios Update? CD/DVD in the drive when it happens?  Does the hard drive actually make a noise when it happens?  Excessive heat?

Re: what would you like too see in norton 2013???

Will respond to this....

What about the Event Log?

No "event log" appeared. Couldnt even get Ctrl, Alt, Del. Frozen 10plus-minutes. Disconnec. Re-boot.

 Bios Update?

It is a relatively brand new computer; all I did was install office 2007. Norton and Google Chrome. Also; i am in Japan and connot find a Bios update IN ENGLISH. Or Japanese. Toshiba UK/USA/Australia do not recognise this model.

CD/DVD in the drive when it happens?

No; empty.

Does the hard drive actually make a noise when it happens?

No; silence; can occasionally hear number crunching from the chip if I hold the laptop underside to my ear.

Excessive heat?

No; Installed Speccy to find that out.

Did notice thousands? of other PC users are having a similar problem. On Win 7 x64-Nit and using Chrome. Miostly. Googled.

I think it is hardware/software related; as I do not believe Toshiba would ship out faulty computers; and they shipped it back to me with a new hard-drive after two months?

Its another MS enigma? It will stop me buying another con-puter until I have seen a hundred ACE reviews about it.

Ever heard of 'Whack a Mole'?

How about 'whack a tech support guy'., that would be really cool when you've wasted hours watching them mess your machine up trying to fix stuff when it goes wrong! Be good to have an animated character on your desktop so the tech guy can see how frustrated you are with him.

Actually, why not do away with tech support all together and just pay the guys & gals on the forums, they certainly do a better job!

My experience anyway. :smileyvery-happy:

Re: what would you like too see in norton 2013???

Gracias y cuaquier consulta me preguntan. Saludos!

LiveUpdates that actually complete! NIS 2012 19.2.0.10 LiveUpdate failed to complete messages are most annoying.
