Re: what would you like too see in Norton 2013???

One more suggestion...

Get rid of the Idle Time Optimizer.

It's not security related and since there are several scan types built-in to the product, I would consider it to be overkill, IMHO. The Optimizer just calls the native Windows Defragmenter anyway and with SSD's and the like which should not be degfragmented, only adds to the confusion, I feel.

FWIW.

Keep it as is, but add scripts for Google chrome, so the Norton toolbar works. Also I get my Norton downloads from Comcast. Can it be possible to make the Comcast Norton downloads easier to get and more up-to-date.

Re: what would you like too see in norton 2013???

I'd like to see in Norton Internet Security 2013 an automatic Sandbox to run suspicious files.

It seems to me a Sandbox would improve Norton's security protection level.

Thanks!

  1. It would be nice to have a browser plugin that would download the files and automatically run the scan. If the basic scan is unsure, it would give an option to run the installer in a "sandbox" to confirm each file in the installer is clean. After confirming the file is clean, allow the user to install file normally.
  2. Spam support for IMAP if the settings of the client are set to download the entire message.

1) It would be much better if SONAR will ask a user what it`s needed to do: allow or not allow... (when the potentially dangerous file is starting).

Sometimes when I run the installer of the programm which is not a virus SONAR blocks it. It makes me upset or even angry from time to time)))

2) Full 64-bit operating systems and browsers support. Separate x64 and x86 distribution of NIS \ NAV

3) Sandbox, of course

4) Improving bootkit fixing \ rootkit detection. A few monthes ago I faced with a problem. MBR was damaged and I had to format all my data (1.5 Tb). Only some time later I discovered that it was a bootkit)))

5) And  damaged files recover (healing). In such a way KIS or BitDefender is much more preferable, but I like NIS very much mostly of its interface usability and SONAR power :)

For information purposes Reformatting or Wiping is not required to be able to fix the Boot Sector or remove a Bootkit.

Norton Toolbar Support

I would love to see Norton Toolbar support or functionality for Google's Chrome Browser and Apple Safari's browser.  I'm sure it's been suggested before, but I feel it should be suggested again by others.  Google Chrome and Apple Safari have been out for a number of years now.

Norton 360 (Stop disabling our CD/DVD drives!)

Would also like for Norton 360 to stop disabling/removing/hiding my CD/DVD drives every time it's installed.  Becomes a pain when a user must get it working again, and I'm sure most average users out there don't like diving into the system registry to get it to work again.

Re: what would you like too see in norton 2013???

1 / an easier mechanism for sending samples for analysis of threats from within the application.
2 / more control over the firewall, imaging calls.
3 / greater integration with additional applications to protect the (possibility of "total" exclusion) - without alertingthe accessible file ccsvchst (spam)
4 / the ability to disable scanning during idle or reduce it to 3x-5x for the day.
5 / plugin / addon większościom compatible browser. This works even with BullGuard opera and many others, Symantec also become such an improvement. Why every update firefox bother with the addons?
6 / http scan would be nice
7 / greater ability to set the size of each window (main menu)
