Thanks! I'll be watching for one that kills the sidebar gadgets. No idea if one is on the way, but I'm on the lookout.:smileywink:

Thanks for that info, scarfy.

I'm also seeing 2 updates that point to the same online info. They are:

Security Update for Windows 7 (KB2705219)

Download size: 127 KB

You may need to restart your computer for this update to take effect.

Update type: Important

A security issue has been identified that could allow an unauthenticated remote attacker to compromise your system and gain control over it. You can help protect your system by installing this update from Microsoft. After you install this update, you may have to restart your system.

&

What's up with that? I think I'll wait a day or two before installing this latest batch and see if these issues get straightened out.:smileywink:

Not looking to have my Gadgets killed unexpectedly ya know...

Re: 9 MICROSOFT security updates on 14 August 2012

Gadgets are not killed, thankfully.  Only the minor issue which can be solved manually:

1) Start -> type "uninstall a program" -> Uninstall a Program

2) On the left side, click "View installed udpates"

3) In the search box (top right), type "KB2647753"

4) Select the entry (KB2647753), and uninstall it. Reboot if requested

5) Download the manual installer:

http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=29156

6) Download it and install it (Windows6.1-KB2647753-v2-x64.msu), rebooting if necessary.

--> When complete, this should no longer show up in Windows Update.

Hi scarfy that is what I have had to do the something when I have had failures installing Microsoft updates by go to the ms download site and download the update either as a msu or exe file as sometimes they are one download type or the other.

A Microsoft admin posted on the threads saying:

Wuzzle(2)    replied on        August 14, 2012

Microsoft
The associated offering logic has been revised and should no longer continue re-offering

That means there was a problem with the MS Update site that determines whether an update is installed or not and whether to offer it.

LOL, whatever they did... it didn't work. Installed the updates this morning got the one in question, installed, reboot, there it is again. Guess I'll have to do the work-around.:smileymad:

ETA: I took the easy way out. Since WU said the last check for updates was yesterday afternoon, I ran "Check for updates" again and it's gone. :smileyvery-happy:
