Yesterday we saw SEO poisoning attacks when searching for keywords such as "Apple Tablet". Now, after the product announcement has been made, we are seeing the same attack with the actual name of the product included in the search term.

Interesting, thanks for sharing that. Do you know if the detection works outside the browser level (ie: is it browser independent?) or does it only work through supported browsers?

Hi, randy,
Thanks for your Reply.
Norton Antivirus Auto-Protect will work regardless of whether you have your Browser Running or not, whereas I.P.S. are only Compatible with I.E. 6 and Newer, 32-Bit, and FireFox 3.0 and Newer.

It looks like this signature is implemented in the network stream IPS detection and should be independant of the browswer that you are using.

Sad to see that a search on such a great new product release immediately leads to new malware

Thanks again for all the info. The thread and blog post led me to do some research on what SEO (good and bad) entails and what would lead to poisoning.
