Phew after a grueling 8 hours of updating the pc is almost ready to use (defragmenting hard drive). I had to update everything including the browser (ie9) and service pack 1.

In case anybody's wondering what printer, mouse, and keyboard I have: printer is the HP P1102w wireless printer, the keyboard is the Microsoft Ergonomic Keyboard 4000, and the mouse is the VX Revolution.
Windows 7 SP1 64 bit (x64), Norton Internet Security 2012, Internet Explorer 9
