DESTINATION DRIVE CONNECTION PROBLEM

I wonder if anyone can help.  I have just purchased a seagate 2TB external hard drive to back up my laptop data.  It worked first time.  Now when I try to back up it goes for a little while then an error message comes up that the destination external hard drive is not connected - this is when it is still recognised in the my computer window and I haven't moved it.  Can anywone help me get over this?

Re: DESTINATION DRIVE CONNECTION PROBLEM

Hello bridgetjn,

What program are you using to perform the backup?  Norton 360?  The Seagate software?

Also what is the connection type on the new drive.

Thanks!

Norton 360 • Norton Internet Security • Norton Zone | XP SP3 • Windows 7 Professional SP1 x64
• PLEASE, BACKUP or EXPORT your Identity Safe Data on a regular basis •

Re: DESTINATION DRIVE CONNECTION PROBLEM

Bridget,

It might also help to know what version of Windows you are using.

If you can tell us the make and exact model ID of the laptop (not just say Pavillion but the group of letters and numbers as well) we can look up stuff about it too.
