DOS Window?

I've started seeing what I think is a DOS window poping up every now and then.  It's only up for a second and then disappears, before my eyes can focus on it it's gone.  Is there a way I can see what is going on, maybe a record somewhere?

Windows 7 Home SP1 - IE 9.0.8112.16421 - NIS 2012 19.9.1.14 - Ghost Ver 15.0.1.36526 - Dell Optiplex GX280 PC.

Hi,

Several of the programs I have installed will open that black window as they do something at the cmd level. I also see it at times when I'm uninstalling a program. I don't know where you would look for a record of which program did what and when so I can't be of much help on this one.

Sorry :smileysad:

Re: DOS Window?

Thank you for the reply, Dick.  With all the problems being posted on the NIS/NAV forum, I guess I'm a little jumpy:smileysurprised:.  I thought I remembered DOS operations were kept in a log somewhere, but I couldn't find it.

Hi PC_confused

Is your Forum signature up to date as far as your Operating System is concerned? :smileywink:

If you are running Windows 7, then please confirm whether or not you are potentially seeing the following:

With NIS 2012 and Windows 7, the image shown in the screenshot above may be fleetingly displayed when logging off of a user account.

Please confirm whether or not you are seeing this or an actual DOS window.

Thanks

Re: DOS Window?

Hello elsewhere and thank you also for your reply.  No, I'm still one of these old people still running Windows XP and NIS 2012.  I've checked the other items, in my Posting information, and they are also up to date.  Another PC does run Windows 7, but so far I haven't seen those, what I am calling, DOS Windows.  They just pop up, a line of code or commands, then they close and disappear.  They don't happen very often, mostly they just catch me by surprise.  Probably they are just safe actions but I wasn't sure.  They could be malware trying to install themselves on my system, but I haven't noticed any problems.

Re: DOS Window?

You could check out Event Viewer via Control Panel and then digging down into Administrative Tools I think it is.

I certainly see that DOS box for a flash when installing Norton but I don't see it otherwise at the moment.
