Enabling the "Fly-Out" menu in Windows 7?

Hi all:

I have been trying to find a solution to the "missing" Fly Out menu under Windows 7.

Microsoft really blew it on this one, IMO - it was great under Windows XP and Vista.

Try as I may, there appears to be no configuration for this. Even "GodMode" has no effect.

Any ideas?

TIA

Did you mean this?:
1. Press Win+Pause buttons
2. Click on Advanced System Setting
3. Advanced Tab
4. By Performance click on Settings
5. Visual Effects tab
6. Check/Uncheck Fade or slice menus in to view

If I'm thinking on the wrong windows UI element, please tell me which you want to enable.

Hi PapauZ:

I would like to find a more "native" way within Windows 7.

A one or two click solution at most or a small utility program that can facilitate this.

Thanks!

Was there an easier way for doing this? I only knew this was to enable it since win xp :P....
I think the easier would be only a deleter and "adder" regkey. Or some 3rd party app, with you can enable/disable these gui and other windows settings options.

You might try this:

Get Classic Start Menu on Windows 7 – Classic Shell

The source is reputable and it does work I'm told although someone mentioned one downside aspect -- you may want to read this thread on Compuserve -- you no longer have to be a member but just log in with an AIM name and set a password.

Hi.

Thanks for the replies. I will look into them!

Microsoft does some *really* stupid things, IMO.

Hi huwyngr:

Aside from Microsoft designing an add-on to do it, Classic Shell comes darn close.

It's not perfect, but I am sure it will be refined given time.

Many thanks!

If there will be Windows 8.... Previously I read many articles about that there will be no more  Windows OS, well not the way we used to it, I think MS will keep the name, as it is known by everywhere. But most of the articles were talking about some kind a new OS Microsoft is building from 0, and maybe with some other radical changes (no registry, etc.) has been rumored.
