Back story - I have 3 licenses for Norton 360. My 3rd computer I had to reformat and needed to reinstal Norton, but my licenses were used up. so I needed authorization. Symantec would not respond to my request via email so I googled "Norton Customer Service" and took the first listing from Google. 24x7 Support Experts.
I called them, the tech could barely understand or speak English which was not a surprise so I allowed alot of leeway in order for him to help me. He asked to take remote control of my computer to make sure "Norton was not active" ...I told him it was a full reformat. He went into the CMD bar and typed "Computer still infected...may crash" He then ran some command and typed the same setance at the bottom.
I called him out on it "WTF are you doing?" He made up some crazy excuse, not worth repeating, then gave me the number for real Norton help..which I called and they eventually helped me. I called back the company and spoke to another man demanding to know what they are up to. It's not worth repeating the crazy excuses they were giving me, although amusing, it was obvious they are not a ligitmate company.
I advised them I would notify Norton that they are using their name and scamming customers, and also contact Google in regards to their listing. Just a head up, the company is a sham. I assume they want people to believe their computer is infected and charge them to remove it.
This is them, don't be fooled!

Hi LpMike75,
Sorry for your bad experience. Remember in the future, the Norton forums here are a good place to come for help and also being pointed in the right direction.
Here is the link for 'real' Norton Support.

Thank you Ed.
In this case, unfortunately, the forum members cannot re-authorize another activation for me. I deal with lots of software that occasional needs an extra authorization (due to buying a new computer or re-formating one). It is usually a simple process involving an email to the developers explaining the situation. Historically. Norton is not an easy company to deal with, only to buy from.
After Norton would not reply by email I had no choice but to call them. I am usually very careful about these sorts of things but in this case, I wasn't....
On a good note, the real customer service rep helped me out and was very nice. It was still more of a process than it should of been but it got taken care of.

Hi LpMike75,
Additionally, another good place to contact is Norton Chat. They are good at resolving subscription and activation issues. You would use your computer, not the phone.
Good luck at all you do. Visit the forum if you have any issues with your Norton product or related issues.

Ed ... I wish to agree with your advice to use the Norton Chat Support. I have used it several times and have always had very good results. Twice they have really spent some time helping me figure things out. It is one of the reasons I am staying with Norton.
We have a lot of computers in our house and I have Norton 360 for 3 of them, and I just switched over from NIS 2012 to N360 Everywhere for another 3 computers and eventually my Android when my current Norton Mobile Security runs out. I am so glad they came out with Norton Everywhere ... 5 mix-and-match as you need devices for a great price.
Unfortunately, we won't be loading Everywhere on my poor husband's laptop ... when we opened it to install the new version of Norton, we discovered that the screen had been smashed during a recent plane trip. It still boots and seems to run fine, but he just couldn't stand looking at all the black streaks where the screen was cracked. Great sadness ... Norton can't 'fix' that!! ![]()

If it's a relatively new laptop you might explore the cost of replacing the broken screen but not via the manufacturer.
My stepson had one replaced for under $200 by a local skilled PC store -- not one of the big chains but a "mom and pop" equivalent.
But you need to compare that with the cost of replacing it with the offers available these days. Just be careful if you have older hardware plugged into it, like printers or scanners, since most new PCs come with the 64 bit version of Windows and that requires "signed drivers" which may not be available for older hardware.

True but if you mean an activation unnecessarily used up because you had to reinstall then firstly there's a lot you yourself can do via Norton Management and your MyNortonAccount and secondly the Norton OnLine Customer Support via the CHAT route as below that uses your computer keyboard and not the phone will fix that in a flash from all the reports we get back from users.
To contact customer support Click on this link https://www.norton.com/chat and work on from there.
Sorry not to have spotted this sooner. CHAT support really is god at fixing problems of this kind, quickly and helpfully.
Please let us know how you get on ....

Hi, Hugh. Thanks for the tips/suggestions. His laptop is a really old XP from, I think, 2006-2007. We used to build our own computers, but sold most of the stuff we had on hand long ago. But he knows how to replace it and has been actively looking for a compatible unit that still has a good screen. I think it is way past time for him to get a new one!
