Flash Player 11.3.300.270

[ Edited ]

I just had a notification from Secunia PSI that a new version of Flash Player was installed.  On checking in the Control Panel I noticed that ActiveX version was 11.3.300.270,  but the Plug-in version was still 11.3.300.268,  so I ran the uninstaller and went to adobe.com to download each and I am back on 11.3.300.268 for both.

I will guess a new Flash Player may be out soon.

Dave.

Thanks Dave,

I know I'm a little confused as far as what the article said. I first noticed something was new when I seen I had a new install in the performance window in NIS. I went into control panel of XP and seen I had the new Active X version 11.3.300.270 in the flash player settings. For now I'm leaving it. The article was talking about crashes. In IE, flash player is Ok, even though I rarely open it.

Since Chrome 21, it's flash player is a mess since the update. Playing something at YouTube has become a chore. I hope they get that straightened out soon.

Thanks again,

Ed

Re: Flash Player 11.3.300.270

Hello Ed,

Yeah,  when I found the article I noticed it included links to the installers,  so I have both the new versions now.  I have had the odd crash,  mainly with Firefox,  but then that's my preferred browser,  so I guess that's why I noticed it there.

Cheers,

Dave.

Re: Flash Player 11.3.300.270

Thanks for the info! The 268 version crashed in Firefox so badly yesterday that I had to restart my computer in order to even open Firefox. I tried one site with flash after that and instead of Flash content, I got a page of code that apparently came from the Flash plugin. Never did get it to work again.

What I want right now - if one of you kind folks can provide it - is a link to the official Flash Uninstaller. I'd like to get all remnants of this thing off my computer before I install the latest version.:smileywink:

Hi killyourtv,

Here you go  -  http://helpx.adobe.com/flash-player/kb/uninstall-flash-player-windows.html#main_Download_the_Adobe_F...

You need to save it instead of run as you need to close all browsers.  I have kept a copy saved for future use.

Re: Flash Player 11.3.300.270

Thanks, Dave! I finally found that page (through a search engine) yesterday, right before I shut down the PC. I was going to post it here this morning, but you beat me to it.

They sure don't make it easy (should I say possible?) to find on the Adobe site. If it hadn't been for searching I don't think I ever would have found it.

I'm off to uninstall and reinstall now. Any feedback on whether this version is an improvement?

Hi killyourtv I found the download for the adobe flash player uninstaller at majorgeeks.com  with the full versions of both the flashplayers also from there if you are comfortable with downloads from that site.

Re: Flash Player 11.3.300.270

Thanks! I had already used the Uninstaller from the Adobe site, but your help is appreciated.

Unfortunately, after reading the post linked above about this latest update, I see that it only addresses the in-product updater and not any of the crashes, which I'm still getting. Flash Player has become a liability rather than a help.
