If the N360 or NAV or NIS has been downloaded using Norton Download Manager, why the file size of the Norton executable is very less (like 47MB)?
Why there is no direct link to download the small sized setup file?

Hi Prabu,
The direct links are already available for 2012 products.
We call them as Vanity URL's.
Say for suppose, www.norton.com/nis12 is for NIS 2012 & www.norton.com/nav12 is for NAV 2012; This is a link for downloading english version of 2012 and likewise we have links for all other regional versions too. Same applies to our previous year releases too.

Hi,
the file size is smaller, because with the download manager you always get the latest virus definitions. If you download the prgram from the vanity URLs, you will get the installer that has the virus definitioins from the day the installer was built, and not a fresh one. Eg. if you download the NIS2012 program today, with the vanity URL you will get a database from early September, while with the downloader the definition will be from today.

Hi Prassana_a,
I'm aware of the short URL's for the Norton Products, I asked about the Link that provides the 47MB N360 or NAV or NIS that comes when you download the Norton through NDM.

Hi Papuaz,
Even if you install the Download the Norton from so called vanity links then while running a Live update it will again download nearly150MB of updates right ? If you install the Norton from the installation folder by clicking on the ESD NoDefs file then also the Updates download will be nearly 144MB right? So why the size variation?
