Norton virus somehow got installed on my PC. It's running constantly poping up ads, taking up resources and slowing down my PC. My McAfee antivarus software does not recocognize it. Anybody knows how to get rid of the virus, shorrt of reformating the hard drive? Regards, Frank
If you are using a McAfee product then i suggest you ask them for help.

Hi FWMolski,
Would this "Norton virus" go by the name of Norton Security Scan? If so, you probably acquired it as an add-on bundled with a free Adobe or DivX product download. You should always read the download and installation screens when you install free products and deselect any additional software that you do not want. You should be able to remove NSS in Add/Remove Programs.

Adding to Send of Jives Comments: If its not Norton Security Scan, was it Norton Online Backup?

I did not find Norton Security Scan, but there was Norton PC Chekup. It uninstalled w/o complains.
Thank you for your advise.

You're welcome. I forgot about Norton PC Checkup.
