Something called montiera

I was asked by a former colleague if I knew anything about something called montiera dot com (widgets.mpv).  I didn't but started looking around and found references to this animal but was hesitant to click on any of the sites which claimed it to be some sort of viral activity.  I didn't get any search replies here on the Community so I'm wondering just what this thing is?  My colleague is not close by so I asked him to send a screen shot and it looks like some sort of cookie, actually two . . . in addition to the one mentioned there is also a montiera dot com (cnfg.mpv) included in the shot.  I've asked him to run his anti-virus scan and am waiting for his result.

A quick search makes me believe it to be spy\adware and to be avoided.

Kind of what I saw also.  He doesn't appear to be getting redirected anywhere so right now I'm at a loss to determine how or why he saw/noticed those two references, I'm thinking probably cookies.  Anti-virus scan produced no detections.  I mentioned that he should just do the same thing you and I have done and check on the advise from respected sites.

Welcome,

You don't mention your operating system or the version of the Norton product you are running.

It is possible that the Malwarebytes free scanner will solve the problem but, that's only a guess on my part without more information about your systrem.
