Hi I also have funmoods browser hijacker and it is proving difficult to remove. It affects IE, Chrome and FF. Have uninstalled using Add/Remove in Control Panel, deleted it in Tools/Add Ons (extensions), used Manage Search Engines to remove it from the list and restored search engines to default - no use. I now see from various forums that Funmoods overrides these fixes and numerous other standard ones and is hidded deep in Windows Registry. Have scanned with Norton 360, Anvisoft and Malwarebytes which "found" threats and removed them - but not Funmoods as it is still controlling searches. . Having looked on the web it seems it is a very insidious virus and even blocks attempts to access popular antivirus sites - creates fake warnings and "scan results" which bear no relation to the problem. Clever! (I thought my internet connection was down on several occasions as "unable to connect" mesages came up or just blank screens).
Am amazed that a search on Norton for Funmoods returned no matches - was hoping I had industry leading AV protection! Does Norton know of this virus - and is anyone working to create a fix for it???
I thought with Norton 360 installed and running all the time I would be protected from this sort of thing..... or has Funmoods found a way past?
I have found so called fixes on these sites but am concerned they may be fake sites set up by Funmoods to create revenue from paid downloads to remove it.... can anyone advise which is a safe one to try?
www.cleanpcguide.com (this one suggests using Spyware Doctor - is this safe?)

FunMoods, is only considered a PUP, I have installed it and removed it, I would not consider it Malware but more annoying.

You might have luck running the free version of SUPERAnti-Spyware.

I had it attack my browsers too after my 11 year old downloaded something. I found that the "people" at Funmoods have put a video on YouTube detailing how to eliminate their "product" from your browsers.
This is the link for FireFox but they also have them for Chrome and IE

I am far from a computer expert. That said, I too had a run in with funmoods. It took me 2 months to get rid of this malware. It fully takes over your computer so you can't access your home page or use your search engines. It really slows down computer performance as well. The way I got rid of funmoods follows. First, I went to the control panel and deleted the program. I followed this with downloading Spyhunter. I was told to download from onto a thumb drive using another computer. I did this, installed and ran the program. I followed this with something from FireFox called "Firebug". I ran this next. funmoods continued to dominate my computer. I tried to change may home page under my Internet settings in the control panel to no avail. I was effectively locked out. Then, my computer really slowed down so I decided to clean the registry, compact, etc. I bleached the registry, then had a problem accessing my college email. It said I needed to accept cookies, so I went to the options menu in FireFox, Internet, and I think under privacy, I found the cookies that are on my computer. In scrolling down the list, I came across funmoods, so I deleted it. I haven't seen hide nor hair of funmoods since. It was in 2 places. I have my home page back and full control of my computer.
It should be noted that Norton started out saying funmoods was a malicious site, then it said the program was fine. This is not a safe program. It hijacks your search engine, pop-up blocker and your computer. It is definitely malware. I hope this helps others remove this program from their computers.

I just got rid of this annoying little imp. MBAM didn't detect it because it is not considered malware. I don't remember if IObit Malware Fighter detected it, but I know that the free version of SUPERAntiSpyware detected, and I removed it. I started having problems with my browser after I clicked Yes on a Script Error message one day. Funmoods is just an annoyance from what I can tell, and from what others are saying. I have had several Script Errors come up since I removed it, and I just close them out.
Everything is running fine like it was before I had this problem. I think it might be installed using Click-Jack. That is basically when you click on something, and it can do a number of things like installing stuff without you knowing about it. Not sure if that is the official name for it, but that is what I have heard it being called.
