mbamgui.exe starts with Windows 7

[ Edited ]

I have run Startup Manager in N360v6 and have found mbamgui.exe wants to load when Windows 7 starts.  It is definitely the free version. I declined the trial of the Pro version.

Has anyone else noticed Malwarebytes Anti-Malware wanting to load at start?

This from Bleeping Computer - http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/startups/mbamgui.exe-24148.html

Thanks,

Dave

Re: mbamgui.exe starts with Windows 7

It isn't in my Windows 7 startup but I've seen it somewhere in one of the others and disabled it.

But isn't the article you linked to enough? <s>

FWIW, I'm not seeing that at all. I checked the Startup Manager in the latest NIS Beta and WinPatrol. It isn't there. Even when I start MBAM, mbam.exe is the only process running.

Re: mbamgui.exe starts with Windows 7

After uninstall/reinstall mbamgui.exe is no longer listed in startup programs.

Thanks,

Dave

Re: mbamgui.exe starts with Windows 7

Just as an experiment i uninstalled/reinstalled MBAM and mbamgui.exe is again listed as wanting to start with Windows,  although I have disabled it with N360.

Re: mbamgui.exe starts with Windows 7

For those intereted,

I allowed mbamgui.exe to start with N360's Startup Manager,  reboot my PC and mbamgui.exe disappeared on it's own.  It is no longer listed in Startup Manager or msconfig.  :smileyhappy:

Cheers,

Dave

Re: mbamgui.exe starts with Windows 7

I wonder if it comes from the inclusion of the interactive coding in the free version which you then say you don't want?

Hugh,

I found this thread from Malwarebytes forums  -  http://forums.malwarebytes.org/index.php?showtopic=6902.  Post #3 is from a MBAM staffer.

I think that would fit in with my supposition as to why it's there on the free version but disappears>
