Norton 360 Firefox 5 NOT COMPATIBLE - REPOST since it keeps getting removed for no apparent reason
07-02-2011 11:42 AM
I have ran live update and it said:
Your Norton Product has the latest updates
I have had Firefox 5 installd since June 2 and I think that it upgraded from beta to final on its own. I am not sure if that was an issue or not. I ran Live Update again and still no compatible toolbar for Firefox, but it shows up great in IE8.
I have posted this NUMEROUS times and everytime I come to check for a reply there is none since this post keeps getting removed.

Hi,
I would suggest to completely uninstall Firefox 5, than reinstall it with the final installer.
Let us know the results.

I have Norton Toolbar 5.6 and Symantec IPS 2.0 for Firefox. Is that not the correct versions for both of those. Also when I go to Help>About Firefox it says You are currently on the Release update channel. I uninstalled and reinstalled Firefox and still disabled, still on Release Channel and no way to enable. I now understand why I am staying with IE8 and hid the update for IE9. IE9 has it's own issues.

Then I guess I am stuck with resource happy IE8, unless FF4 is still supported by Norton and Mozilla. If it is where can I get it.

HI SthrnDixieCowgrl Try this uninstall ff5 and down load a new firefox 5 from www.filehippo.com you may find that if you down load firefox from this site if may work for you also you can down load IE9 from there as well just make sure that you download the 32 bit version not the 64bit version as a lot of todays programs do not work well with 64bit . Also if you can not get the nortion toolbar to work on firefox 4 or 5 you can download fire fox 3.6.18 that is still getting security updates thru August 2011. I hope this helps. Good luck ALF60

Why would I want to download IE9 when I purposely hid it when it showed up in Windows Update.
