360 v6 Desktop gadget "No Connection" ( ?)

Desktop gadget not working. Reading "No Connection", even after I installed 360 version 6.0.1.2.

Folks complaining in the other thread also, and for a while now. When's Symantec gonna figure out the fix?

Windows 7 64 bit

CORE i5

360 v6.0.1.2.

Hi editpro,

Have you tried rebooting your system?  Have you received any error codes?

Hi Krusty13,

When you say "reboot", do you mean shutting down my computer and then starting it up again? Yup. Numerous, numerous times.

The desktop gadget has been not working for quite some time now, even before I updated to 360 version 6.0.1.2. It's basically a dead black box, with the words "No Connection" at the top. To be honest, I'm starting to become unimpressed with Symantec's attention to detail and lack of prompt response to some matters. This same problem is discussed in another thread, and with no resolution. Someone suggested using NPE or to completely remove 360 and then reinstall it. I think those are drastic steps for something as simple as a gadget not working. To date, no simple solution, and more disheartening, no reply from Symantec staff.

Best part, no option to even just remove the **bleep** gadget.

Does anyone at Symantec even read these threads? I'm beginning to wonder.

Edit: Oh, and no "error codes", if that helps you somehow.

Do you have any proxy server set in the computer?

Thanks,

Please see Blenheim's solution here posted by HarryP.  It involves running the Norton Remove and Reinstall tool.

Norton Remove & Reinstall Tool

I hope this helps.

Re: 360 v6 Desktop gadget "No Connection" ( ?)

From the main page I hit support on the top toolbar and it brought up autofix.  At that point the gadget went from No Connection to filled with the Norton icons and they work.  I have not though powered down or rebooted so it could go back to blank when that happens.  It may be some help otherwise to get it fixed by Norton.

I've rebooted and powered down and the gadget is working fine now.

I'm sorry to ask this , but I have searched my entire desktop and home page . Where is the support button you speak of? Can you be more specific.

Thanks

@Ghost-Rider:

Am assuming you have Norton 360 version 6 installed.

To get to the Support button you have to get to the Norton 360 product interface, you can do so by either double clicking the icon for it on the desktop or from the start menu.

You will get the below window, then click Support which is on the top right hand side.

Yes, click on support, then when the drop down comes up click Get Support and autofix runs automatically.
