Possible bug in Norton Internet Security 2012 GUI

Hovering over the thumbtack in advance view brings up the caption "make initial view the default."  :smileyfrustrated:

What does it mean and shouldn't it say "advance view" the default? :smileytongue:

Hi scarfy,

No bug on this one. Initial View in NIS 2012 is what you see in the screen shot below. If you click the thumbtack in Advanced view, it will make the below view, (Initial View), the default when opening NIS. So unless you want that view as your default, don't click the thumbtack.

Clicking the left arrow next to the thumbtack will close the advanced view and bring up the initial view. Once in that view, just click the Advanced link on the right side of the UI to go back to advanced view. Advanced view will remain unchanged as your default view when opening NIS.

Hope this helps.

Ed

Ah OK.  I see when the thumbtack is disabled, the wording read make advance view the default view.  I think the word "initial view" may cause some confusion.  I think it would be better if they called it "simple view" or something.

Hi scarfy,

I think 99.9% of people using NIS use the Advanced view as their default. After using it that way for so long, a person tends to forget about the initial view. I agree that perhaps it should be called something different also  :smileywink:
