You don't need to install from the CD at all. With NIS you are paying for a subscription and not the actual software so the product key you get is not tied to a specific version of NIS. You are essentially just purchasing a product key which can then be used to renew your subscription.

 

You should instead download the latest version of NIS 2011 from the links provided in this thread.

 

Also, running Live update only updates the current version which is installed. For example if you have NIS 2010, live update will ensure that you have the latest version of NIS 2010 but it will not update you to NIS 2011 automatically.

 

So for that you need to do the upgrade yourself. From NIS you could go to Help & Support > Get new version and this would allow you to update to NIS 2011. Or easier still is to use the links from this thread to download the full version.
