I just experienced exactly the same symptoms that you described, and I am having the same questions. It happened about half an hour ago, When this happened, the Norton icon disappeared from the tray, and I'm not sure I had any anti-virus protection after that, so that's when I decided to re-boot the computer in order to have NIS2011 up and running again.
I am now thinking that something strange must have come in via LiveUpdate that is incompatible with Windows DEP. I have never had this problem before, and it is strange to see that this is happening when I am just using Norton to examine some Norton logs and some Norton help files.
Does anyone know what is going on?
