NIS updating problems - security certificate problems

The icon in my task bar has a red "x" on it.  When i open the program, it says my definitions are not up to date.  I run LiveUpdate, after it's finished, it still says they are not up to date.  Sometimes it tells me i dont have any to update but yet I still get the "my definitions are not up to date". I've tried going thru the chat process, my computer wont allow the chat site to open, it says its an untrusted website because of an invalid certificate.

Hi darlsu56,

You have all the classic signs of an incorrect system time and date.  This will cause the Norton definitions update issue as well as the problem with website certificate errors.  Reset your system clock and run LiveUpdate again.

I was searching thru the forum and found someone who had the same problem, i just fixed the date/month and all is ok.  I got online to post that it is fixed and saw your message.  You were absolutely right, thanks.  I dont know how that got changed, but it's ok now.   Thanks for the quick reply.

You're welcome.  Glad you found the answer.  If the PC contiunes to lose track of time, it is probably your CMOS battery in need of replacement.
