Live update failed to check for updates (step 1) but still downloaded and installed 5 updates (step 2 & 3).

Did you click on VIew Summary to see what did not complete? If so what was the message?
Sometimes all that is needed is to repeat the LiveUpdate procedure a few times, especially if it a couple at the end of the list of actions processed which a number of us have experienced.
Otherwise it could be a question of Server overload.
Please always give details -- Version of WIndows including Service Packs and whether 32 bit or 64 bit and the Norton product and version you are using including the detailed version ID which is in Help / About in the format: nn.nn.nn.nnn
Then it is easier to help.

There were 5 updates, all completed fine. I tried the live update right after and it was unable to find anymore updates.
If it's a question of server load, then how was it able to download and install the updates but was unable to check for updates? What I am trying to say is how did it know which updates to install when it failed to check for the update in the first place.
Windows Vista 64bit
NIS 2010 17.0.0.136

So when you run LiveUpdate now you do not get the Failed to Complete message that you posted the image of?
If this is the case I would forget about it -- you are uptodate now if it says so and after all we are dealing with computers .....
