action center saying Norton is not running after the 22.7.0.75 update

Am having the same problem on my Window's 7 PC as MHaff stated above. Started yesterday (6-14-16) after windows & Norton updates.  Norton version 22.7.0.75.   Window warnings will go off if I go into Norton settings and turn off Firewall & virus protection & then turn them back on, however upon reboot issue reappears.

Add me to the list as I'm having the same problem.  Also started happening yesterday (June 14, 2016).  Same Norton version 22.7.0.75.  I tried this work around with no luck.

Yes, I started having this problem this morning after Live Update installed the latest version of Norton IS.

This happened only on my desktop, Win 7 SP1.  It has not happened on my laptop, Win 7 SP1, and both systems have latest NIS updates.

Just tried the disable/enable quick fix and it worked.

The 22.7 update has been pulled. Sorry about your issue with the Action Center. I have the same issue also. Luckily, the work around has worked for me. Symantec is working on a fix for this issue however. I will update when I find out more about this issue. Gurus have contact with some Symantec Employees even though we are not Symantec Employees.

The work around was quite simple, i posted it on the main thread which was subsequently removed.

My systems are now working great, thanks for nothing norton!!

Shame on Symantec for woefully inadequate testing before releasing this update!  We are customers, not beta testers!

Why is Norton now deleting threads about this issue? The original thread and a post I made earlier today asking for a solution/update on this situation has been removed. This is getting extremely shady! I think it's time to contact some PTB.

Sorry for the mistake, that was my fault. I was in the process of merging all the separate threads on the subject, and the master thread got moved. I'm working to restore it now. I apologize for the error, sorry for the trouble.

The Norton 22.7 product update has been pulled from the LiveUpdate server and is no longer available for download.

Symantec is working on the issue where the “Windows Action Center incorrectly reports the Norton Security status” and we will update the forum thread once we have any updates on an ETA for a release with a fix. This issue does not impact the security of the pc as long as the Norton product reports its features are enabled.

So just to verify, are we Ok with keeping 22.7 on our Win 7 systems until the new patch is released?  My Norton is enabled and in the green showing protection as current, and I really don't want to remove / reinstall to go back to V22.6 unless I have to.

Your Norton product is safe with 22.7 as long as you have the Green Checkmark on the Norton icon with the Firewall and Auto-Protect enabled.

Have you used the workaround? Disable/enable Smart Firewall and Auto-Protect. You will have to do this after each restart.. I didn't check that while my Action Center issue was showing. It is showing now since I did the workaround.

It wasn't the Windows Action Center that made me uninstall 22.7. It was the fact that when I tried to open my online vault by typing in my vault password, it just timed out - on both my Windows 7 and 8.1 machines. Will the fix sort out this issue too?

Thanks for the update as I have Windows 10 Enterprise installed and the 22.7 update runs well.

But if the problem you are having with 22.7 is that you can't open your vault (as was the case with me), and you want to use the vault, then you DO need to uninstall and reinstall the previous version. NRnR.exe will do this for you.

Let's hope Symantec fix the vault problem too!

Hello everybody & especially to the Norton Staff Admin,

I'm not a computer-expert nor a novice but I found the solution to this issue after 1-day search
The problem is that the upgrade to 22.7.0.75 leaves 2 services active that doesn't exist anymore in the new version. The product works fine as the Norton Staff says, but it gives 2 false positives to the Windows Action/security center in my WIN7x64 (due to false links in the registry).
Solution:
1) cross out Norton Tamper Protection in Settings for 15 minutes
2) go to the Device Manager
3) put on "Show Hidden Devices"
4) go to Drivers Not-Plug&Play Compatible and DELETE this 2 remainders of the former version : NAVENG en NAVEX15
5) Restart your PC
6) Put on the Norton Tamper Protection (it will do so automatically)
NS works fine & also the Windows Action/Security center !!
Success everyone, and I hope for a nomination from Norton - I have to renew my licence within due time , ha ha , got the hint, my friends !!

A new build of Norton 22.7.0.76 product update has been posted back to the Live Update servers. This patch update addresses the issue where the Windows Action Center incorrectly reports the Norton Security status. This update is available via Live Update and is being released in a phased manner. Please run Live Update until all updates are installed and then check if the issue is resolved.

Routine tested v22.7.0.76 in the usual manner, OK

Solution of Ricky007 works! What i do: uninstall fully Norton then installed, nothing disabled in settings, just delete (uninstall)

NAVENG and NAVEX15 restrart, turn on LU update restart, and voila !
