Is a manual Smart Scan necessary?

I assume that Norton 360 works unattended and performs all necessary "scans" on a constant and regular basis.

Since recently a new "Smart Scan" button appears. Why do I need to press the new "Smart Scan" button? Does Norton 360 require me to manually "smart scan" on a regular basis? Does Norton 360 no longer perform all necessary checks automatically? I have the feeling that the smart scan is only an instrument to promote another product subscription and has no added value to most of us. Assuming that this is really the case, could you please give us a one click option to delete the "smart scan" button?

Initially, Smart Scan was a throttled release and available only in the US. That may have changed to some but not all regions since. The scan is not mandatory and doesn't cost anything to run. Other services offered at the end of the scan DO come with a premium cost if needed.

...in the German version of Norton 360 22.21.9.25 the button "Smart Scan" cannot be found.

Auch ich habe meinen neuen Norton 360 in der neuen Version( die gestern heruntergeladen und installiert wurde) nachgeprüft und festgestellt, daß bei mir( wie auch bei Dinole) der ,,SMART SCAN" noch fehlt.

Naja, jeder Rat kann nützlich oder teuer sein und eine Rückantwort daraus macht ihn noch und noch schöner Well, any advice can be useful or expensive and a response from it makes it even more beautiful

Same issue for Australia, no Smart Scan option. Performed uninstall/reinstall and still not avail. 

Would be nice if they could advice if its limited to certain regions

The last piece of the Peter Norton legacy is falling off this product. Apparently, we are faced with a highly personalized user experience. I get the feeling that my age triggers the "smart scan" button, as version or region are irrelevant.
