Getting "Error 6" Displayed on Activation Attempt of Utilities Ultimate - 12th Gen i9 msi Stealth GS66

The Norton Support team has gone silent.  Out of the 10 devices license, 8 are used and the 8th device is an msi GS66 i9 12th Gen which refuses to activate Utilities Ultimate.  Utilities Ultimate is working fine on balance 7 devices.  I have Win 11 Pro, but I tried Win 10 Pro also, and the issue remains.

If only the 12th Gen devices are facing this issue, then Norton is not ready with it.  I believe Norton must honestly come forth and share the difficulties they may be facing rather than keep everyone hanging and not responding.have

I had a similar issue some 3 yrs ago which was specific to one of the Win 10 Pro and Norton took about 3 weeks to make a fresh modified launcher and sent it to me to load clean.  I also got refund and a free one yr subscription.  But there was a lot of back and forth with long chats with Dublin.

For now, is there anyone who knows what might be the reason?  This time, Norton is silent.

If having this error... I finally got someone to do what I requested which is the easiest route to get back up and running, have them issue another product key and reactivate your subscription... Problem solved

Had this happen to 2 systems already... One tech fixed the first machine.... This guy... Not so much... Im waiting for Level 2 to call within 24-48hrs... REALLY????

So there is no doubt the latest patch messed up the machines, Ive been with Norton for 10-12 years and never had these kind of issues w/products or support... The guy yesterday did 2 things... reset the winsock and flushed dns... Meager attempt at a fix to say the least... I have a 10 PC Subscription and its a server side error and not machine based... So we shall see what the fix is and what will be compensated for having to deal with the product being unusable due to their mess up.

Edit: AMD system here, so it's not hardware based... They released a messed up update...

@JBish : You are right.  I too have a mixed bag of devices (Cell phones of varied OS), PC of various OS.  The issue may be with Norton and Microsoft, or msi-Microsoft-Norton. 

I had bad experience with the system followed by the support team.  They paradrop on your phone from a number which could be from anywhere in the world.  In Gods name, in these days, why would anyone pick up a call from Venus or Mars?  After thre days of attempts to call, they would ask you to return to the queue again. Not one, NOT EVEN ONE complaint or feedback would get acknowledged by Norton Support.  So actually they think customers are a machine.  The support executive would decide to turn around and try calling up one machine.  If it didnt respond in 20 seconds, he would hangup for that day.  So we are machines, not customers, or users, far less humans.  I have requested one of the top ranking office bearer with NortonLifeLock, a very fine gentleman and a thorough Professional, to please raise the matter at the corporate top level to review the manner in which support is functioning. At his level of functioning, I dont expect him to do the job of Level-Zero.  But being one who is concerned, he took it up on himself and he does that naturally.  Perhaps he knows there are limitations within the system.  He had helped me out earlier also.  He made no delays in initiating actions (usually seconds or minutes) and after finding out that I had made several (YES, SEVERAL...dont know how may times I made appeals on website), he took up matter at Level-2 when Level-1 had dropped my complaint.

But let there be one matter at the back of your mind that while this Product is Unbeatable, and one may never have any issues for years, but if it did bother, it will make sure you leave Norton for good with bitterness.

My issue finally got going on 30 May 2022.  The machine was purchased on 10 May 2022 and trouble reported by the evening of 10 May 2022 to msi first.  Since the trouble largely was with Utilities, some minor issues with 360 Premium, even when asked by the executive of Norton, I told him there wasnt any.  He took log files of Utils and told me usually it would take 48-72 hrs, but it could be longer.  While some people have reported this error in recent times, it is not clear if all of us get through with an upgraded installation patch, or each machine would be a challenge.

But after the executive hung up, I recalled that the issues I had with 360 Premium somehow seem to be closely linked to Utils Ultimate.  360 Premium has some features which are common to both utils and anti-virus and the issue seemed to be linked to some part of Microsoft new aggressive policy of taking over control very rapidly and bundle the 22H2 out anytime in the coming days.  It is likely that we may find a relief then.  But I was not willing to wait and returning this machine was confirmed to me.  Only condition I had was that with another machine of same model must not have the same problem.  While Norton ought to have got this checked with OEMs, what I see now is many a slips between the cup and the lips with Norton, with msi and when it comes to Microsoft, I dont trust these guys, be it FB, Twitter, Google, Insta...They are all the same.  Fortunately, Norton and msi make a good ethical brands to deal with.

Next, some features of 360 Premium are not appearing on this machine.

There are some strange issues this machine is showing:- 

It has some keys that stick and keep typing and end up filling boxes/ lines.  I am inserting this line because below, I noticed there have been several mistakes where the the cursor has jumped or the neighbouring key is pressed.  In a transaction I found digit 2 had typed itself about 17 times and letter e had typed about 30 times.  Fortunately, the website did not recognise it and terminated that attempt.

Then, Around the 6th day, the machine froze.  I made thre to four attempts to make clean loading of Windows, but again after 7 or 8 days, the same thing repeated.  No keyboard command reached machine, no mouse command reached the machine and cursor disappeared after sometime.  Ctrl+Alt+Del would not work.  A solution given by someone on the aebsite of using WinKey+F or some such command, which also didn't work.  Continued pressing of Power Key did not not terminate. 

Many more observations, which I have now got sick and tired writing about.

This laptop was purchased for my child and what I got to hear wasssssssss that we ended up paying over INR 300K to find that even after two weeks, the machine was not usable.  I must have tried to make several different approaches to load windows and finally threw out the msi suppled Win10 Home and Win11 Home out and after clean instal of my licensed Win 11 Pro, reflashing with Apr 2022 Bios, slowly loading drivers with time to settle, I have it running now for past 5 days.  However, some issues have cropped up.  The screen seems to have some loose connection and flickers in different areas randomly.  At times cursor stops.  At times booting is long.  so i would have this machine go back to Taiwan, but the new machine must not have similar problem.  This was a choice after a 6 months wait and 18 months study.  It is the lightiest of the configurations with other brands.  MSi is a good breed of machines and have a very good staff, very good ethics and sensitive to buyers needs.

The present issue may be resting at the door of Microsoft though temporarily, Norton may resolve it.  MSi could bring another Bios upgrade if it feels that security policies have drastically changed with Microsoft and the hardware configuration in the 12th Gen machines are to be in confirmation with Microsoft mission.

All I can say that this had been back breaking and I suppose not worth it.  At this point, both machine OEM and Norton are trying to find a resolution.  Microsoft the culprit is making hay....

I don't believe its an MS issue, as all machines were updated to current fixes/patches etc... Norton released a patch .565 that is now not available for updating... Tested this with a windows 10 machine that has previous build on it and checked for updates, no new Utilities patch... It happens but the lack of Support for the issue is really a bad scenario  and not a good look for the company... Been with them a LONGGGG time and this makes me question even renewing anything... I've paid my subscription and would expect at least a response from support in regards to issue that many are having... I have now been waiting for over a week for a Level 2 tech to call and attempt to resolve the issue... They called from a toll free number with no clue who it was I rejected the call as many of the calls like that are spam... #18005433562 which if do a search folks reporting it as Lifelock number but within the time span to check the number you get hung up on and put back into a cue... Put me right back into we will call again in 48hrs after waiting 72 hrs previously... But at least they sent an email saying we left a voicemail...
