How to turn off the non-stop pop-ups?

If you're using Norton 360 for Windows, you know what I mean.  I swear I'm forced to respond to at least 5 pop-ups per day across my various computers and devices.  From what I've gathered here and from Google searches, there doesn't seem to be a way to turn them off permanently, and "do not show this to me again" is completely ignored by the various Norton apps.  Has anyone found a way?

I've used Norton for almost 20 years, but after my subscription runs out, I'm switching to a different solution if they don't stop these pop-ups.

i would think you may be referring to the special offer notifications? ( others have also on here)

to turn that off in administrative settings about half way down the screen/page will see

special offer notifications ( think is right) or words to that effect turn that off

Re: How to turn off the non-stop pop-ups?

Oh, c'mon.  The OP wasn't referring to "special offer" popups. Everyone who uses Norton 360, especially someone who has used it for more than 20 years (as have I) knows about that setting to turn off "special offer" popups.

What the OP is referring to is how horribly intrusive Norton has now become.  The popups are incessant, and as noted, clicking on "do not show again" has zero effect.   Norton started this nonsense a couple of years ago, and now the number of popups is ridiculous.  And with the "new" interface with larger fonts and larger popup boxes, things that used to simply be annoyances, make it incredibly difficult to keep one's focus on the reasons many of us use a computer (which is to get work done).   Here's an example:  Norton used to display a tiny little banner in the lower right corner of the screen saying things like "background tasks completed" and similar messages.  Now, the popup is at least 4 inches wide x 3 inches tall, literally obscuring a whole portion of the screen....and most of these continue to sit there until they are closed out.

I've been a huge Norton fan for decades....no longer.   They've taken a solid program and filled it with crapware.    When my subscription expires, I'm out.   Never again.

Oh, and I have discovered a sure-fire way to turn off the popups......UNINSTALL NORTON 360 PREMIUM.

That will do it, for sure.

Well said jegesq!  That's why I started my post with "If you're using Norton 360 for Windows, you know what I mean."  Apparently there are a lot of people who aren't annoyed by the incessant pop-ups.  I, like you, will be out when my subscription runs out.  Heck, maybe sooner.  No amount of money is worth the torture that Norton 360 is inflicting on me :)

I can only assume that was sarcasm levelled at Norton, otherwise my toggle to off feature is broken just like their online support contact message feature.  Maybe they will respond on the 4th attempt.  The responses were quick, immediate when I removed my credit card details and auto renew. They didn't want that to happen; offers of extended time etc.  Hmm maybe I should reinstate the ccard and auto renew details?

I too receive all the Norton self chest beating popups - just do the job silently Norton, your program is not an exciting focus feature to us, its an antivrus program that's it, we just want it to work.

Re: How to turn off the non-stop pop-ups?

Everyone. I have two subscriptions, one is Norton 360 Deluxe which I use exclusively on my Windows 11 laptop. The second is Norton Security Ultra which covers all my other devices and family devices. N360 is the only subscription that the random notifications and popups appear with. Most but not all, are "marketing" related in N360. Alongside of performance notices, report cards and others that don't really produce anything but an eye candy perspective of what the Norton product is doing for you on a device level. The marketing notices, I rarely if ever see on Security Ultra, nor do I see marketing popups. So there, at least for me is the difference. Obviously the N360 platform is the preferred platform for sell-up and marketing, its been noted for a very long time here on the forums by everyday users as well as we Guru's. Unfortunately, the marketing / sell-up manta isn't going away nor at least being reduced to no notice without user interaction. In a nutshell, its marketing driven, not going to change anytime soon if ever.

I have all the e-mail notifications disable from within my actual Norton account settings. As well as as all the standard settings disabled like the rest of the community have posted time and again about. I don't have any idea what the difference is in my settings than others that are keeping the annoying notices from appearing, if I had those I would certainly share them with the community.

Re: How to turn off the non-stop pop-ups?

I am disappointed to see that there are several threads asking Norton to stop these horrible pop ups, and there are no answers from Norton, but some of those threads are closed for further comment.

Does Norton believe that closing threads for further comments will make us accept the pop ups?  Does Norton believe that not answering will make us give up on the request?

My feedback is this ...

I PURCHASED NORTON TO PROTECT ME, BUT ALSO TO ELIMINATE ANNOYING POP UPS.  APPARENTLY NORTON FEELS THAT THEY ARE ENTITLED TO CONSTANTLY SUBJECT US TO SALES PITCHES (USING SCARE TACTICS).  WHAT THEY DO NOT REALIZE IS THAT THEY WILL LOSE CUSTOMERS.  I HAVE TURNED OFF MY AUTO RENEWAL, AND I PLAN TO USE ANOTHER PRODUCT IF THIS IS NOT CORRECTED WHEN MY SUBSCRIPTION EXPIRES.  IF I CHANGE, THEN I AM UNLIKELY TO COME BACK EVEN IF THIS IS CORRECTED IN THE FUTURE.

SO THE CLOCK IS TICKING TO END THESE ANNOYING CONSTANT POP UPS AFTER WHICH YOU WILL LOSE THIS CUSTOMER.

Re: How to turn off the non-stop pop-ups?

The irony of paying every year for software to protect yourself from scammers and hackers and the makers of that software employ much the same tactics to relieve you of some of your cash....wearing the sham superhero outfit of your saviour, they spam you with endless pop ups creating some kind of fear that there is a chink in your armour that only they can help you with, for a price. Shameless!
