Very Slow Load Times on Norton 360v3 - I think i know why

First up appologies for creating a new thread for this as i have already discussed thus under another thread but it's title doesn't explain the issues.

I installed Norton 360v3 and i was impressed at first especially at how quickly it installed but i soon noticed it was taking a long time for my pc to load up, in fact it took about 3 minutes before everything became responsive.

After reading the other thread i mentioned i decided to try a few things to see if i could narrow down the potential problems. First up i uninstalled the program then reinstalled. Instantly it was better it's loads times were comparable with the Norton 360v2

My next task was to use live update to ensure all was up to date, i did this and restarted the pc, everything still ok.

Next i ran a full virus scan, and pc/registry clean up. Agan after a restart all was well.

I was beginning to think the reinstall had solved all my problems, but then i did a backup to my external hard drive. This took quite some time but it did the job and all was well until i did a restart.

The desktop loaded but my gadgets on the sidebar didn't, neither did the norton tray icon, lots of processor action going on and hard drive grinding, a minute passes and the gadgets start to load, a further minute passes and norton tray icon finally loads, nearly 3 minutes in total to get to a responsive desktop.

So there you go it works fine until i do a backup then for whatever reason in runs like a dog everytime after that when rebooting the pc.

I'd love to hear from a symantec rep or anyone else who's suffering like i am particularly if they have noticed it after a back up.

Thanks for reading.

Re: Very Slow Load Times on Norton 360v3 - I think i know why

Ok i have taken the testing to the next step, i reinstalled once more and again it runs beautifully, this time i went to the back up section and all i did was select what i wanted to back up and location and then i did a reboot..................3 mins + later it loaded.

So the problem with the long load times is to do with the back up section of the program, it's not the actual running of a backup but something in the settings.

But for me anyway the BACKUP is the cause of slow starts
