You're at Risk

Hello, I have Norton Anti-Virus installed on my computer and I was wondering if anyone could explain something to me? I never know if my computer is at risk unless I click on the Norton Security icon at the bottom of my screen. Is it possible that Norton could let something harmful happen to my computer if I haven't clicked on the icon at the bottom of my screen? Or maybe not something harmful, but if the performance is hampered in some way? I apologize beforehand if my question seems elementary to most of you, but I'm still learning. Thanks

Re: You're at Risk

Norton will complain if your machine has been off for more than a few days and no scans have run.  Usually this isn't a problem as it will check for updates and run a scan when the machine is idle long enough.

Re: You're at Risk

Do you see an exclamation mark in an orange circle on the Norton icon?  This just tells you that a good bit of time has passed since you last liveupdated or scanned for threats or both.  It does not mean that the machine actually has a threat.
