Outlook 365 unable to send or receive email

Just installed Norton 360, with VPN turned on emails do not send or receive ,  error messages that outlook cannot connect to the outgoing server (smtp) or the incoming server (pop 3). The sending mail is stuck in the outbox.

When VPN is switched off the emails send and receive ok.

I am wondering if a made a big mistake changing to Norton.

Any help would be appreciated. thanks

Hello rus. Add the Outlook 365 app/executable to the Norton VPN split tunnel. Also, if you have not already done so manually run live updates with Norton, make sure to restart so the updates and changes to the split tunnel settings are set. Please let us know what your results are.

Thanks for your reply, I have followed your suggestion and it still wouldn't send or receive.

I checked everything in the VPN settings again and noticed that the kill switch was on so I turned that off  and it now allows the emails to send and receive ok. 

Will monitor it for the next 2 days.

I liked the response and followed along until I was adding Outlook 2013 on the select screen.  When I select that the OK button does not turn to click on it, just stays grayed out.  Same thing happens on all the other items on the select screen.  Think this would solve my problem but until I get a suggestion on fixing this I will just keep turning VPN off to send emails and then turning it back on.  I can receive email without any problem.

Grumpy old man, have you rebooted your machine to see if the settings changed are taken? Just a thought.

SA,

I have had this problem for awhile and thought it was my provider but finally figured out that it was Norton VPN.  Your response about adding Outlook in Split Tunnel sounded like the solution but like I said when I tried to select Outlook from the list or any program on the list the OK button stays greyed out.

As I said I have had this problem for weeks so my computer has been rebooted many times unless you mean after I change something in Norton but not sure what you are referring to.

Is your Outlook installed locally on your computer? If so when you are trying to add it to the split tunnel feature, you need to look for the Outlook.exe file in Program Files or Program Files (x86).
