8.8.3 install issues

I've had 8.8.3 installed for a few weeks but just got the notification that I needed to fix something. I clicked the button in the dialog and norton opened and proceeded to finish an update install (I think) but midway through it tries to do some updates for networking but results in a blank screen and no prompt from OSX (see image below).
